This is a V1 draft written by the people building Trader Battles, not by a lawyer. It describes the service accurately as of the date above. It will be reviewed before the product is promoted publicly.
1. What Trader Battles is
Trader Battles is a competitive game. Two players are matched one against one, both are dealt the same hidden historical market session on the same futures instrument under identical rules, and whoever finishes with the higher profit and loss wins the battle.
Simulated trading on historical market data. No real money, no wagering, no brokerage. Results do not predict funded-account or live-trading performance.
Every price you see already happened. There is no live market feed, no broker, no exchange connection, and no account holding money. Orders are filled by a deterministic simulator against recorded data — not by any venue.
2. No wagering, no stakes, no payouts
There are no entry fees, no buy-ins, no prize pools, no jackpots, and nothing you can win that has monetary value. You cannot deposit money into Trader Battles and you cannot withdraw anything from it.
Rewards are cosmetic and reputational: ranks, levels, prestige, medals, emblems, titles and calling cards. Credits are an in-game currency that can only be earned by playing. Credits cannot be bought with money, cannot be sold or transferred, cannot be converted into anything outside the game, and have no cash value at any time — including if your account is closed or the service shuts down.
3. Not advice, and not a predictor of anything
Nothing in Trader Battles is financial, investment, or trading advice, and nothing in it is a solicitation to trade anything. We are not a broker, a dealer, an adviser, or a proprietary trading firm, and we are not affiliated with any.
Doing well here does not mean you will do well trading real money. It does not predict whether you would pass a funded-account evaluation, keep a funded account, or be profitable at a firm. A simulator has no slippage risk you did not choose, no real-time execution risk, no funding costs, and no consequences. Treat your record here as a game score, because that is what it is.
4. Your account
An account is an email address, a password, and a callsign. You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for everything done through your account. Use an address you can actually receive mail at.
Be aware of what this version does not yet have: no email verification, no password reset, and no self-service account deletion. If you lose your password today, we cannot restore access to that account. These are known gaps, not features.
One person, one account. Callsigns are public — pick one that is not another person’s name, not an impersonation of a real firm or public figure, and not abusive. We may reset a callsign that breaks that.
5. Fair play
The whole product rests on both operators facing identical conditions. Things that break that, and will get an account suspended or closed:
- Automating play — bots, scripts, macros, or any program submitting orders on your behalf.
- Trying to identify the calendar date or the instrument’s real prices for a session you are being dealt, by any means.
- Exploiting a bug rather than reporting it, including anything that alters fills, profit and loss, timing, or the result the server computes.
- Running more than one account, coordinating with an opponent to fix an outcome, or farming rating, levels, credits, or leaderboard position.
- Attacking or interfering with the service or with another player’s session.
We keep integrity logs and review flagged accounts by hand. We may suspend or close an account, void battles, reverse rating changes, and remove leaderboard entries for a violation. We do not automatically ban anyone.
6. What is public
Your callsign, rank band, level, prestige, equipped cosmetics, and win/loss record are public — they appear on leaderboards and on your operator page. Battle replays are shareable links, and you can withdraw an individual replay from your battle history. Your email address is never shown to anyone.
Recorded runs from your battles can be replayed as ghost opponents for other players unless you turn that off in settings. See the privacy page for exactly what is stored.
7. Availability, and battles that get voided
This is an early version of a service running on a single server. There is no uptime commitment. We can change formats, rules, ranks, rewards, or any part of the game at any time, and we can take the whole thing offline.
Battles in progress are voided — with no rating change for either side — if the market data feed drops for long enough, or if the battle server restarts. You will be told when that happens and why. Progress, ranks, and cosmetics are game state, not property, and can be reset when a season rolls over or a bug requires it.
8. No warranty, and the limit of what we owe you
Trader Battles is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind. We do not promise it will be available, correct, uninterrupted, or free of bugs.
Because nothing here involves money, nothing here can lose you money. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for anything arising out of your use of the service, including lost progress, lost ranks, lost credits, or a voided battle.
9. Changes to these terms
We will update this page when the product changes, and the date at the top is the day it was last true. Continuing to play after a change means you accept the current version. Material changes will be called out in the product rather than only here.
